Every Collection Begins with a Feeling

When people think about surface pattern design, they often imagine repeating motifs, color palettes and technical precision.

Those things certainly matter, but they are rarely where my collections begin.

For me, every collection starts with a feeling.

Sometimes it is the quiet calm of an evening by the sea.

Sometimes it is the memory of a place I have visited, the atmosphere of a small village, the colors of a

botanical garden or the excitement of a summer festival.

Before I draw a single flower or house, I try to understand the emotion I want the collection to carry.

That feeling becomes my creative compass.

From there, I begin collecting small visual ideas. I sketch simple shapes, explore color combinations and think about how individual illustrations might relate to one another. Gradually, these separate pieces grow into a visual story.

Although I work primarily as a surface pattern designer, I rarely think about creating "just a pattern." I think about building a small illustrated world that can live across different products, from stationery and gift packaging to fabric, wallpaper or home décor.

Inspiration Lives in Small Moments

I don't design patterns first. I build collections.

The patterns simply become one way of telling that story.

I love creating collections that invite people to pause for a moment and notice the little details: a tiny bird hidden among the leaves, a row of colorful houses, a winding path through a garden or the gentle rhythm created by repeating shapes.

These details may seem small on their own, but together they create an atmosphere.

Nature is one of my greatest sources of inspiration. Living in Romania, I have always felt connected to forests, wildflowers and changing seasons.

Traveling has also shaped my work, allowing me to discover different landscapes, architecture and local traditions that quietly find their way into my collections.

Each project teaches me something new.

Patterns That Travels

One of the things I enjoy most about surface pattern design is that every collection can continue its story long after it is finished.

A pattern may become part of a notebook, a gift box, wrapping paper or a fabric that someone chooses for their home.

Knowing that an illustration can become part of everyday life is one of the reasons I love licensing my work.
